A Question for You, Dear Reader

I am in odd position of teaching the mythos of sabbatic witchcraft to a non-practitioner who has no intention of starting a magickal practice. As I’m sure many of you are aware, sabbatic witchcraft has a serious problem with purple prose and making up words so compiling succinct info that won’t immediately alienate a normie has been a mildly hellish experience but it got me thinking. It’s been a pain in the ass so it seems a waste not to share it – Would you guys be interested in this?

This is not about the practice of sabbatic witchcraft mind you, there will little to no practical instruction and you absolutely will not be equipped to start your sabbatic journey. We will not be delving into Azoetia or the Dragon Book of Essex. This will be a curated collection of articles, shorter books, and commentary on a few publicly available rituals.

That sort of thing.

    In any way that this ends up being formatted I am interested in seeing where it goes. I’ve only recently begun to fully grasp aspects of the current and be able to read through that purple prose, but some attention given to piecing apart the exact motifs and processes seems worthwhile.

      Even after all these years I still find the purple prose frustrating. I theoretically understand it’s purpose but I think it’s needlessly obtuse in a way that doesn’t actually conceal the real mysteries, it just makes it annoying to read.

    I’m so down! I’ve been diving deeper into my praxis with Azo and initiating a deeper relationship with the Initiator, our home boy Qayin Azhaka.     Are you a member of the Cultus or various sodalities? To be “teaching the mythos of sabbatic witchcraft” to another, I would assume that you are actually of the tradition.

      No, there’s a difference between Cultus Sabbati (a specific initiatory tradition) and sabbatic witchcraft (the practice arising from their works, Clan of Tubal Cain, historical practices, AO Spare etc.). It can be hard to differentiate the two in text so I try to stick to capitalizing when I’m talking about Cultus Sabbati and their associated Crooked Path Sorcery and lower-case for more general sabbatic practices. I make no claims of teaching Cultus Sabbati material whatsoever, what I am doing is providing a reading list to help loosely understand the cosmology and basic spirits common in sabbatic witchcraft.
